Look for more pheasants this fall as the annual July-Aug. brood survey indicates
a very nice 34% increase over last year's numbers. With the higher number of
birds and earlier maturation of crops, the 2010 hunt should be much improved
over 2009. Shoot us an e-mail for those Nov.-Dec. late-season hunts.
WOW! The area is once again filled with water, and the ducks and
pheasants are loving it. With the recent slowdown of rain and an
abundance of warmth, crops are ahead of normal maturation. This
should get the crops off earlier than normal and make for an excellent
fall hunt. Check us out as Fall 2010 looks to be another exciting year
for hunters!
Hunters are making plans early for the fall hunting seasons. While the 2009
pheasant hunt was difficult with all the water and unharvested crops, duck
hunters enjoyed one of the finest seasons on record. The Missouri River
walleye bite was also exceptional in '09, and continues in early 2010.
Check with us for up-to-date fishing reports. We are a short half-hour
drive to the river.
Mid-Sept., 2009--Small grain harvest continues
The July-Aug. roadside count is out and indicated what we all had thought:
pheasant numbers and brood numbers are down substantially. Still, there
are birds similar in number to 2002, when over 500,000 roosters were harvested.
Corn and flowers continue developing and stand tall and thick. With the
prediction by forecasters for a mild winter, many of those fields should
be harvested by Dec., which should create an exciting late-season hunt:
less cover, fewer hunters and wily ringnecks. Keep an eye on the forecasts
and keep our website handy.
Mid-Summer 2009: Things are Looking Lush and Beautiful.
Although the spring crowing count was down 25% (statewide average)
from last year, the Zeeland area continues to be wet, lush and beautiful.
Ducks are everywhere and roosters are plentiful. Spring chicks are being
seen with more regularity.
If you have been thinking about making the trip to this part of North Dakota,
this is the year! CRP continues (as expected) to be put back into production,
but with the abundant rains and standing water, the cover is tall and lush.
Late season hunting could be especially interesting.

January, 2009: Pheasant Season Wraps Up
Folks, I would like to thank you for staying with us in 2008.
We hope that you enjoyed your time hunting in North Dakota, and we'll
see you this fall! Check back with us for the latest info on local
hunting conditions, which we'll post as it becomes available.
Also, check on the early season walleye bite, which was excellent in 2007.
We're only a short drive from the Missouri River.
Thank You!
December, 2008: Hunting Opportunities Still Out There
Although the hunting landscape has changed as predicted, there are
still lots of pheasants in places, especially the PLOTS next to
stubble fields. Hunters' success has been good (not "spectacular"
as in 2007.) Corn and sunflower harvest continues. Watch the extended
weather forecast for that late December hunt. The hunting season continues
until January 4th.
August, 2008: Another Year, Another Pheasant Opener!
It looks like it's going to be a beautiful hunting season in North Dakota. The ground cover is
equal to last year's, and the
spring crowing counts were up a stunning 36% over last year.
Zeeland is practically surrounded by PLOTS land, it should be no problem to find pheasants
within a short drive from our place.
We have immediate openings for 3, 4 and 5 day hunting excursions! If you've never hunted this
area of North Dakota, this is the year to start. Give us a try!
November, 2007: Late hunting can work to your advantage.
The fall hunting season is mostly in the books, and '07 will go down as one of the finest in history
(excellent cover, thousands of pheasants, and beautiful weather.) We are booking into '08 with several
prime dates already filled. Don't hesitate on those November / December hunts; later dates in '07
produced some great conditions as the late crops were being harvested.
October, 2007: Pheasant Opener Approaches!
It's looking like a beautiful fall hunting season here in North Dakota. The ground cover is
the best we've seen for years, and the birds are loving it. Zeeland is practically surrounded by PLOTS
land, it should be no problem to find pheasants within a short drive from our place.
